Jesus Loves the Little Children

I was with the medicine man and his family walking around the Taichung Lantern Festival, which celebrates the Chinese New Year coming to a close.

He told me, "Ye-su has a special place in the Festival."
I didn't know what he meant, but it sounded cool.

That's when I saw this.

I laughed. So hard. I couldn't believe it.
Then I got really sad. And kind of embarrassed. Embarrassed of being a Western Christian who told the world this is the best way to portray Christ. No wonder so many thinking people consider Christianity a joke.

There was a sign (no banner, or church passing out flyers or anything like that...), but it was in Chinese. I don't know why this was there - and next to the Festival's mascot. I mean, I know he said "I am the light of world," but come on. Really?

Anyways, just thought you might be amused.

that is funny, are you offended somehow?

not so much offended as saddened.

But don't think for a second that I didn't mostly just find it hilarious. (Thus the need for the picture.)

Ah the glory of the inflatable savior :). I think that whatever the image may be, and some downright silly images of God are floating around the world, the message is important. And well...I'd have to say that light-up Jesus is pretty close to the "light of the world". Thanks for sharing that!

That's awesome in a really heartbreaking way.

That's almost as bad as, "Honk if you love Jesus" bumper stickers.

Glad to see you're back, ps.

I know what you mean, I had a hard time for a long time with Buddhas being sold in every freakin grocery store, they became so fashionable (i had a Buddhism faze, still try to respect it, its not a commodity).

But at the same time I do like the Je Su, it looks amazing, and i feel respectful.

Coincidence - on the back of a book beside me, i had not seen before but just noticed;

LUMEN ACCIPE ET IMPERTI
which translates to
'Take the light and pass it on', pretty wonderful!
